Some might say that we are in the midst of the worst Presidential election we have faced in centuries, I feel as though we are making one for the books. Michelle Obama claimed as she graciously reminded our nation that, "...Our children are watching, and the president we elect is going to be their president, too." I could not agree more, that is why it is vital to our country's future that all of age should be voting. Many claim there is no good option, and sure, I see flaws in both Trump's and Clinton's campaigns and perhaps empty promises, but we need a leader who is altruistic enough to overcome their flaws and proudly protect America. I believe Hillary Clinton's presidency is the fundamental to success.
Last Thursday night, Clinton's Democratic nomination acceptance speech spread a new epidemic to our nation. Upon explaining how she plans to address terrorist threats and seek socio-economic solutions, she was explicit on why she feels it is her duty to lead our nation. It stood out to me how she made a point to thank as many individuals who she felt deserved her gratitude. She thanked Bernie Sanders, who had the heart of many young voters with his solutions, and he took his beliefs and appeals to endorse Clinton. While popular belief claims she spoke down to America, I believe she spoke to us. Our generations are the most advanced and innovative we have ever been, Clinton made it clear that we must trash the connotation of a weak society and prevail using the strength and tools in our possession. It is time to speak up and use our power.
In reference to our political system that is seemingly broken, Donald Trump proudly declared that he alone could fix it, and while Hillary addressed his statement in further portrayal than the political system, it is not irrelevant. We do not need a leader who believes he alone can fix anything, it is our nation's duty. We are a unit. Clinton's acknowledgment of all the troops, policemen, firefighters, doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, architects, and citizens that are all putting in their own 100% to fight for safety and justice in this nation of freedom. I genuinely am sullen when people pose the question, "Aren't you tired of having a politician for president?", "What we need is a businessman running our country". No-Trump proved that as he tweeted that Hillary will never reform Wall Street because she, as well as the rest of us, is owned by Wall Street. Just as I am not tired of having doctors work in hospitals, and judges work in courthouses.
Personally, I found one of the most compelling moments in the speech to be when she regarded our country's motto as, "e pluribus unum": out of many, we are one. She then notioned to Trump's ignorance as he claimed just last week, that he yearned to, "divide us from the rest of the world, and from each other." See, it seems inept to me that our great diverse melting pot could potentially have a leader that does not want to utilize our influence and strong connections to advantage. Not merely our advantage, but to help our brother sister, and cousin nations around in the globe that is in need of our assistance. The point of fighting conflict, is to resolve it, not stir up more indecency. Despite religion, race, and status, we must seek alternatives to better one another lifestyle. A wall will not help find better jobs for everybody, a wall will not create equality, a wall will not create an alliance, a wall is not justice.
This one goes out to all my fellow Hamilton fans, Hillary quoted one of Lin Manuel-Miranda's quotes from the musical in her speech, she claimed that our legacy should be about, "planting seeds in a garden we never get to see". We have the soil, we have the tools, now America, who do you want planting that seed?
