This world is full of beauty. Even in the darkest corners of Earth, there is a certain sense of magnificence that can be found in everything. My favorite thing about this ball of rock, water and atmosphere is the sky.

When I look up at the sky I get an absolutely indescribable rush. Every sunset, sunrise, day and night is different and that in itself is incredible. The hues in the sky are constantly changing. Within minutes, the position of the sun or moon and all of the colors in the between have altered. My favorite is when one-half of the sky is still lit with shades of the setting sun while the other half has fully transformed to night with stars shining. I have witnessed sunsets with colors that I have never even seen in a 152-Crayola crayon box. I can’t even count the amount of times my friends have laughed at me for being awestruck and saying “look at the sky” almost every time we go outside.

I don’t just love the sky because of how it looks. I love the sky because it makes me feel. I look up and realize this universe is an enigma. Suddenly I’m standing there feeling minuscule thinking of all of the things that are beyond what we can even see. There is always something larger than us and things that we will never be able to understand or explain and to me that is amazing. Sure, knowledge is power, but not knowing is absolutely beautiful. The sky makes me realize that no matter how twisted the world may get, there are still things in this life that can’t be controlled by any power other than science itself. It reminds me that the best things in this life are free. It doesn’t cost a thing to feel the peace and serenity it brings.

There is so much we learn from the sky. Even on the gray, gloomiest days, there’s a sense of hope; hope that tomorrow when you open your curtain the sun will be glowing and painting the sky in its beautiful golden rays. It’s not a bad life, it’s just a bad day. You’re not always in control and there are things you can’t change and that’s ok. Looking at the stars can remind you of your past and make you realize the value of the things you have endured. The sky is inspiring. It is infinite, just like you’re boundaries in life. When it gets dark, light will come again. Appreciate this life. Take a step back, look up and breathe in the loveliness that surrounds you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
