As the semester is winding down, all students around campus are caught up in a whirlwind of papers, tests and presentations. Stress is at an all-time high as everyone is trying to get everything done by the ultimately important due dates. Everyone can relate to one another in this time, even the sitcom we all know and love, Friends. Here are some things they might say in this time of the semester.
When you realize the actual amount of work you have to do and how little time you have to get it all done... I think we can all admit to some procrastination coming into play, especially at this time of the year.
When you're staring at that blank Word document with a 10-page paper just waiting to be written... You have a paper due the next day in your first class, and writer's block has truly never been more real.
When your most important final is tomorrow and you have all of your notes from the semester over-flowing on the desk in front of you... There is nothing more overwhelming than realizing all the information that you need to know, but have forgotten throughout the semester.
When you begin to feel that your brain is so overloaded that it begins to shut down, and nothing you say makes sense... You begin to not even feel like yourself anymore, so everyone then knows to disregard any stupid things you may say.
When you pulled an all-nighter and still feel like you got nothing accomplished... There is nothing worse than staying up all night, or extremely late, and still questioning what you have learned. You begin to think, "What's the point?"
Halfway through studying you begin to question every decision you ever made... You start to question your major, your school and even your snack choices. Nothing seems safe anymore.
When you get to the point of trying to do anything but continue your work... Another point when procrastination sets in. You feel like you must do something other than use your brain for school work.
Realizing that you cannot give up studying or else you'll fail... You know you have to study; it's just the matter of actually continuing on to get it done that you're struggling with.
Trying to convince yourself that you are fully prepared for the exam... Walking into the classroom, you give yourself that much-needed pep-talk to settle your worries.
Knowing no one else knows the information well either, so you're not alone... You're not alone in the confusion, everyone is in it together.
When you hear that one person bragging about how well they know the information for the exam and how easy it will be... There's always that one to make you feel that extra ounce worse about yourself.
After the exam, when you can't help but worry about how you did... You will subject yourself to anything other than constantly wondering how bad you actually did on the exam.
But you really love college and the fact that you still have as many years as you have left, even though it evokes stress like this... This is our "real" world until graduation day. There are a lot of times when we hate it, and a lot of times when we love it. We just have to embrace each day and the challenges that come along.
Good luck with the end of the semester, fellow students!
