I am back with yet another collaboration with the Universal Music Group! This week, I will be featuring the band "Empire Of The Sun". Their new album, "Two Vines" released on October 28th, so be sure to check out their new album. As per usual with all my articles, I always get the question of who and what am I talking about when it comes to Universal Music Group bands. Allow me to answer all of your questions!
Who Is Empire Of The Sun?
Thank you to the internet for helping me with the answer to this question (transparency is a real thing), but Empire Of The Sun is an electronic music duo who formed in Sydney, Australia in 2007. The duo is made up of members by the names of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. The combination of alternative rock and electronic music makes up the core sound of this group. These guys had a recent resurgence to one an early 2016 Honda commercial that had one of their songs synched up to it. You can check out that video below this paragraph:
The Review:
I was asked by Universal Music Group representatives to review some of the music Empire Of The Sun makes due to the new album, and here are my thoughts on this. Have you ever been to a Spencer's or a Journey's and heard the music they play in there? That's where this band would fit in. Just by the sound itself, you can tell it's not music the radio would typically play, and for some odd reason, their sound makes you feel like you want to take a road trip to the beach and just have yourself a grand old time, or in a millennial's words, it's pretty chill. Also, I am surprised that these guys aren't more popular than they are already. There is a pretty big market for music like this, but it just has to be exposed to more people. Another warning, if you're like me who still likes to watch the music videos, don't be surprised if you're slightly confused as to what is going on with the visual content. I mean, yes, the video does fit into the music, but at the end of it, it makes you want to go to the director and ask what he/she was trying to go for.
The Takeaway:
So do I suggest listening to their new album? Absolutely. This is yet another band I get to review that has a sound completely unique to their own, and the people deserve a changeup in music genres. Sure, the music videos are confusing, you can't really understand the lyrics at a first listen, but for some odd reason, it keeps you wanting to come back for more, and I believe that is the most important part of listening to music, the experience of it. Give it a chance because you never know, these guys could be Kanye West popular one day.
