*SPOILER ALERT*
As I'm sure a lot of you know, Me Before You hit theaters this past weekend, raking in $23,586,637 in the first few days. The movie is classified as a romance, though it is more of a tragedy in my books. I went to it with a bunch of friends on Sunday evening, knowing what to expect since s couple years ago, I read the book it is based on. Even so, this film destroyed me. Tears streaming down my face, I realized what an emotional roller coaster I had just been put through. Here are the 25 emotional stages I experienced:
1. Awww.
The adorable morning scene leaves you wishing you lived in a London flat with a hot boyfriend.
2. Horror.
What is this girl wearing? Is she an adult toddler? All the faux pas.
3. Empathy.
You go, girl! That lady is scary, but don't let her intimidate you.
4. Annoyance.
Ok I get that you are permanately paralyzed, but you don't have to be rude.
5. Recognition.
Is that Neville Longbottom? It IS Neville Longbottom!
6. Relief.
Ok, that outfit wasn't so bad!
7.Mellow.
This is good, they've broken down some walls. This could work out!
8. CUTE.
The way Will calls Louisa her last name, Clark, is goals.
9. Awww pt 2.
He let her shave his face. That's some real intimate stuff.
10. Shock.
He wants to WHAT? NO! He can't end his life, things were just starting to get good!
11. Wishful thinking.
Dang, I wish I had a sister. More goals.
12. Progress.
Okay, she can do this, she can change his mind.
13. Heart eyes.
"I just want to be a man who has just been to a concert with a girl in a red dress for a few more minutes."
14. Irked.
If you invited your quadriplegic ex-boyfriend to your wedding, you should be able to handle that he actually showed up to support you.
15. ALL THE TEARS.
Why why why did they have to use Ed Sheeran???
16. Swoon.
"Lousia Clark, you're pretty much the only reason I get up in the morning."
17. Awko Taco.
Patrick is so self-absorbed. Good riddance. (Sorry, Neville)
18. Concern.
He can't die before the trip!!! I refuse to accept it.
19. Positivity.
This trip can salvage things. Beaches, sunlight, love!
20. Sobbing.
More Ed Sheeran. Thanks a million, the tears are flowing.
21. Rage.
How can he be this selfish? She did everything for him! He rejected her love. UGH.
22. Acceptance.
She is going to regret it if she doesn't go with him. It's better to say goodbye than to stay angry forever.
23. Bawling.
It's supposed to be an uplifting ending, but I just can't. For real though, some serious drippage is happening.
24. Inspired.
Will's letter is sweet and makes me want to never waste another day.
25. Bitter.
Still can't believe Will ended his life and opportunity for true love.
If you weren't as lucky as me to know what you were getting yourself into ahead of time, I hope you had a box of Kleenex handy. I sure needed one!
