13 Things Every Elementary School Girl Had In Her Desk In The 2000s

Your identity was absolutely dependent on your pen collection.

Admit it, you would do anything to go back to the days of having your very own desk in a classroom filled to the rim with the school supplies that you carefully picked out with your mom over the summer. Nothing would beat the days where your teacher allowed a half hour of the day to be dedicated to cleaning and organizing your desk. The stress of wondering if your folders should go on the right or left side was real. Amidst all of the excitement, independence, and freedom that came along with having your own desk, what you actually put in your desk was far more important. Here are the items that you could find in every girl's desk when she was in elementary school:

1. Pens with fur

Don't ask me why these were so cool, but you know that you owned one in literally every color.

2. Tamagotchis

This was absolutely essential to keep in your desk so you could play when the teacher wasn't looking. Can't let the little guy go hungry...

3. Webkinz

Honestly, there was no point of bringing these to school at all but I swear, these were our lives and for some reason, they had to go everywhere with us.

4. Kooky Pens

A kooky pen was easily one of the most important objects I have ever owned. Nothing topped collecting these and more importantly, making sure you didn't have the same ones as the other girls in your class.

5. Gel Pens

Now these I would love to see make a comeback.

6. Snap Bracelets

Admit it, you had a collection of these in your desk and would change them based on what you were wearing that day (you also spent the rest of the day slapping your wrist with it instead of paying attention in class).

7. Gogurt

Freeze one these overnight, leave it in your desk until morning snack time... perfect temperature and consistency.

8. Silly Bandz

I feel like this doesn't need an explanation...we all feel the same amount of regret over these.

9. Character folders

The hardest part of back-to-school shopping was always picking out folders. "Hannah Montana," "Cheetah Girls," or "High School Musical"? These folders represented you. They were your identity.

10. iPod Nano

Loaded full of all of the classics: "Hey, Soul Sister", "Dynamite", and "Tik Tok".

11. "I <3 JB" doodles

Congratulations, we are the generation who witnessed "JB" stand for both The Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber.

12. Giant erasers

These seriously didn't erase anything. Yet, somehow we still had to have a million of them.

13. Crayola 50 Pack

You weren't a somebody until you had this pack with the 12 scented markers. Facts.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
