I swore to myself I wasn’t going to write anything about this insane election. I thought, there are so many people already talking about it until they are blue in the face, why should I be another one to add to the madness? Then I got talking about it again and I cannot believe how much it actually irritates me to even hear the word election. Each and every time someone brings it up, my blood boils; I cannot stand to think about how this is all really happening.
The future of our country is going to be determined in, essentially, one day. In one day everyone is going to place their vote, it will all be calculated and determined by higher officials, and BAM, our new president is determined. I know more goes into it than that, but I think you all get the point I am trying to make. We have built up to this day for months, watching debates, having our own debates with our friends and family, continuously watching the lies pour out of the mouths of our candidates, even having crazy clowns thrown into the mix of it all. It has been a crazy ride and I can honestly tell you that I am terrified for what will come of our country once this whole thing is over.
I realized that I’m not just mad when I hear people talk about the election, but worried, so I tune it all out and pretend it is just a hoax. It’s not. This is, somehow, actually happening. So regardless of my feelings about this whole thing, I have to voice it; I have to vote, I have to do something.
What I want to point out with this is the fact that we all need to sit back and rethink this whole process. Why are we still voting separate parties? It makes absolutely no sense at all why we are driven to become, quite literally, a divided country. All this talk about equality and yet every four years we do the same ridiculous thing. We narrow it down between Democrats and Republicans. Two sides, two different views, one ultimate choice. WHY?
We all, each and every one of us, have different views, so why on earth are we narrowing it all down to the point where we all have to choose just one? It baffles me, it angers me. This is a new world where we are clearly stating how different we all are, yet, in the end, we go back to the stone ages and pick one single person to have one of the greatest opinions on what happens with our country. What happens with us.
Why not narrow it down to three solid candidates, the Democrat, the Republican and the Independent. We will have all sides. Not just one to determine the decisions for all. It makes sense, doesn’t it? So, why aren’t we doing it?
I want everyone to think about this, a lot, before you go back to your normal lives after this election is over and think about how we can change this ridiculous system. Having one person with one set of views to run the country doesn’t make sense anymore when you have billions of people with different views trying to stand for something else. This is a democracy, is it not? So why do I feel so helpless regarding the fate of our country? We need to think of a new system, we must change the way our president, or presidents, are determined. We simply cannot keep choosing one side when we are certainly far from being one-sided individuals.
