It Is Time For A New White House

I've been told by many, and I agree, this election season has given us the worst hangover without all the fun of over-indulging. Yes, we all knew the blue wave was going to be a slow process. I appreciate the states that are being meticulous at counting votes. Because as we've been told by the sitting president, he was planning a court battle.

Let me be clear, Thursday night's press conference by this soon to be ex-president, in the briefing room of the white house, broke all kinds of norms, decency, and even the truth as anyone has ever witnessed. I was grateful when the networks took it upon themselves and ended it swiftly and without fanfare. I was able to watch Jeopardy in its entirety, like a normal day in the life of an American citizen.

I enjoyed the commentary though. As Anderson Cooper describes it, "Like watching an obese turtle on his back flailing in the hot sun." Could not have said it any better. Most of the news media watched in horror, not understanding why his staff allowed for such an outrageous speech. We can only imagine the battle it took to keep him from doing this every hour since November 3rd.

It has become apparent there is a winner and it is not Donald J. Trump. The next question that must be answered is, will he walk away and leave this country to heal itself? I don't want to play devil's advocate again, but the signs all show he is going to battle this loss to the bitter end, take a few innocent people down with him and then blame it on anyone but himself for his loss.

Yes, I know you have heard that from many people over the past year. It isn't easy to hear nor is it what a sitting president should do or act like. Can you imagine if Bush Sr., the last one-term president decided to fight for his job knowing he was voted out by the people he was working for? If I can describe it as a reality television example, it is akin to Sean Spicer refusing to leave "Dancing with the Stars" when he was clearly voted off because the man can't and should not dance. Let alone be considered a star.

Can we please go back to the life of an adult president that doesn't use social media as a teenager? Hires responsible, capable men and women in his cabinet to do their jobs for the American people, not for the reality television person in the oval office. I think about the eight years of Obama and remember that daily news was not some divisive tweet that enraged many and scared most. There were no family issues, tell-all books being printed over and over about the incompetence like this sitting president's term.

I know Mr. Trump and the little Trumps are all scared because they know, once Daddy leaves the building the law will pick them up, and not only will their Daddy's hair be orange, but so will all their suits. Maybe he can get the FOX network to do a reality television show of his time behind bars.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
