The 2020 election is looking to be one of the BIGGEST elections of our lifetime. With the current administration working their hardest to sabotage and and cast doubt on mail in voting, it is now more important than ever to ensure you are doing everything you can to participate and have your vote counted. Whether you are voting by mail due to the pandemic, or voting in person, here are some tips to help you be prepared.

1. Mail in Your Ballots RIGHT NOW

If you are choosing to vote by mail, then it is extremely important you fill them out and mail them in as soon as possible. With all the confusion created by president Donald Trump, as per Vox Media, it is imperative that you send in your ballot as soon as possible. That way, if your ballot doesn't reach its intended destination, you can request another. (CNN has a list of sites for tracking your ballot HERE).

2. Check Polling Locations and Safe Ballot Drop Off Spots

You should figure out ahead of time where you will vote or drop off you ballot. Because of COVID-19, your usual polling location may be closed down. Check HERE to see what is open near you. Also, each state has a different website where you can find ballot drop off boxes. For example, if you live in New Jersey, you can check HERE.

3. Double Check Your Ballot

Each mail in ballot has its own long list of procedures, so if you're not careful, your vote won't be counted due to a small error. For this, double check all instructions before moving to the next step in filling out your ballot. Also check that there are no errors, and request a new ballot if there is.

4. Stay Informed

This election has already been a whirlwind of information and drama, so it is easy to lose track of what is going on. That is why it is more important than ever that you are an informed voter. Stay informed on the presidential candidates, local news, world news and election news. You should check what you will be able to vote on in your state. Also check your in person polling locations regularly. With democracy in the balance, everyone should be informed about what's at stake and how to do your part in changing our country for the better.

5. VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

If you are thinking of not voting this election, then you are making a grave error. You may feel as if you don't know enough, but it is easier to stay informed now more then ever. If you feel like you don't care, then what you must realize is that you or your loved one's rights may be at jeopardy this election. This is not the time for complacency but action. Now is the best chance this nation will get for a long time to make things right.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
