After a lifetime of being forced to listen to '80s music in the backseat of my dad's car, and having a friend whose mom's music taste was (and is) leagues better than my own, I learned to love everything from U2 to Fleetwood Mac. Here, I compiled a list of my favorite songs to jam out to that were released pre-1999, along with some of my favorite lines.

1. Friday I'm In Love - The Cure

"Dressed up to the eyes / It's a wonderful surprise / To see your shoes and your spirits rise / Throwing out your frown / And just smiling at the sound"

2. Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac

"All your life you've never seen a woman taken by the wind / Would you stay if she promised to you heaven? / Will you ever win?"

3. Black Coffee In Bed - Squeeze

"Now she's gone / And I'm back on the beat / A stain on my notebook / Says nothing to me / Now she's gone / And I'm out with a friend / With lips full of passion / And coffee in bed"

5. Wannabe - The Spice Girls

" If you want my future, forget my past / If you wanna get with me, better make it fast / Now don't go wasting my precious time / Get your act together we could be just fine"

6. Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners

"These people 'round here, wear beaten down eyes / Sunk in smoke dried faces, so resigned to what their fate is / But not us, no not us, we are far too young and clever"

6. Linger - The Cranberries

"If you, if you could get by, trying not to lie, / Things wouldn't be so confused and I wouldn't feel so used, / But you always really knew, I just wanna be with you."

7. I Want You Back - Jackson 5

"Trying to live without your love is one long sleepless night / Let me show you, girl, that I know wrong from right / Every street you walk on, I leave tear stains on the ground / Following the girl I didn't even want around"

8. Beautiful Day - U2

"You're on the road / But you've got no destination / You're in the mud / In the maze of her imagination"

9. Tainted Love - Soft Cell

"Get away, you don't really want any more from me / To make things right / You need someone to hold you tight / And you think love is to pray / But I'm sorry, I don't pray that way"

10. Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin

"Ev'ry day I work so hard bringin' home my hard-earned pay. / Try to love you baby, but you push me away. / Don't know where you're goin', I don't know just where you've been; / Sweet little baby, I want you again."

11. Vienna - Billy Joe

"You got your passion, you got your pride / But don't you know that only fools are satisfied? / Dream on, but don't imagine they'll all come true/ When will you realize... Vienna waits for you?"

12. Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield

"And I'm lookin' in the mirror all the time / Wonderin' what she don't see in me / I've been funny; I've been cool with the lines / Ain't that the way love's supposed to be?"

13. Island in the Sun - Weezer

"On an island in the sun / We'll be playing and having fun/ And it makes me feel so fine / I can't control my brain / We'll run away together / We'll spend some time forever / We'll never feel bad anymore."

14. You Make My Dreams - Hall and Oates

"Twist and shout my way out / And wrap yourself around me / 'Cause I ain't the way you found me / And I'll never be the same, oh yeah"

15. Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye

"We're all sensitive people / With so much to give, understand me sugar / Since we got to be here / Let's live, I love you"

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
