Midterms are finally coming to a close, and students are able to take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air, for now. Midterms are just as stressful as finals because it tells the student what kind of path he or she is on in the class. But once that stressful week has passed, it is time to relax and take some time for yourself with activities to help de-stress you and let you enjoy life.
1. Arts and crafts.
A great way to be creative and just let all of the stress out is to paint. Whether it be splatter paint or painting a dorm decoration, it takes your mind off essays, classes, and allows you to let loose and express yourself.
2. Binge watch a season (one preferably with at least 10 seasons).
That show that you've been dying to watch, but never had the time to because of school work? Take one weekend (when you're free) and watch what you want. Enjoy it with some boxes candy that you can get from Walmart or the Dollar Store and have your own marathon. Or invite friends over and enjoy the show together; it'll give you someone to talk to about when a character does something outrageous and you need to vent.
3. Quality dish.
Those really yummy and delicious looking dishes you see on Facebook that are simple and easy, make one. Take time out of your day to treat yourself to a tasty treat. Try various recipes for each meal of the day like ways to eat breakfast in a mug and different ways to have lasagna. To top it all off pick a dessert you have been dying to create and do it since you know, desserts is stressed spelled backward. It will definitely be worth it.
4. Dance party.
Let go of all that stress and tension and just dance. Crank that throw back station on Spotify or play the hottest jams and dance around with friends and act silly. Don't be stressed for a good moment and enjoy the time by singing along and acting goofy.
5. Pet Land.
That's right, Pet Land. You get to play with puppies for thirty minutes and absorb the cute fur balls of excitement. How can that be stressful?
6. People watch.
Instead of stressing yourself, sit down in a busy area and watch other people go about their day. It may seem weird and creepy, but it is definitely entertaining, such as seeing runners on the National Mall strip or family tours on college campus.
7. Photo shoot time.
Need a new profile picture? Take your colored sheet from your bed and create a backdrop for your photo shoot with your roommates or friends. This will definitely take your mind off the stressful week you just went through. Add in props like sunglasses, scarves, and any other accessory that will help make your new picture stand out.
8. Spontaneous adventure.
Take a night out with your friends and explore the area around you. Try something new or an activity you have been dying to do like ice skating or try the new restaurant that everyone has been raving about.
Stress is annoying and being in college it is inevitable to avoid. But there are some ways to decrease the amount in your life for you to enjoy the people around you. Take some time out of your day for you and take it easy.
