What do you mean I can't go there? There's a Pikachu over there.

8 Thoughts We've All Had While Playing Pokémon Go

With the recent release of Nintendo’s newest game and phone app many fans of the Pokémon Franchise have been sharing some similar thoughts regarding game play, interfacing, and meeting new people.

  1. Is it trespassing if I’m literally on the fence?
We’ve all been here, we’ve seen that Growlithe or Dragonite just on the other side of a neighbor’s fence, contemplated if we could get away with trespassing. The fact being that we know it has to be close by but it’s just out of reach is the most frustrating thing in the world.
  2. How many pokéballs will it take to catch this thing!
Not everyone has mastered the art of catching a Pokémon on the first try. But it can be rather frustrating when there is no developed interface for using one of your good Pokémon to fight a wild one but instead you’re just tossing pokéballs at the same Pokémon over and over.
  3. That person driving has their phone out are they playing?
Like it or not lots of people are playing the game now and lots of them are either being discreet and super obvious about it. The question is how do we tell if they are playing without breathing down their necks and looking like a creep? Is there even a way?
  4. What do you mean my Beedrill is a lower CP than my Weedle?!
Unfortunately, while it is possible to catch some Pokémon with high combat powers it seems that it is also possible to catch Pokémon of a lower level even when they are an evolution of a Pokémon you already have. I can’t tell you how many weedle’s I’ve caught at CP 60+ when my Beedrill just evolved and is only a 58 CP!
  5. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY TOOK THAT GYM?!
Ah, the everlasting turf war. Rather your team Valor, Instinct, or Mystic, we all know the frustration of claiming a gym only to come back a few minutes later and find your enemy has claimed it.
  6. Where is that (insert name here)?!
I promise stranger, I’m not walking around aimlessly, it’s just that my phone is indicating that there is a Pokémon really close by and I need to find it, but I can’t find it no matter what direction I go in! Do I use incense to draw it out? Will that even work!? AHGH!
  7. Upon arriving at a gym: Why are there so many people outside this church at 2 am?
You guessed it! They are probably a bunch of people playing Pokémon. Lately, there has been an influx of people wandering around playing the game and making new friends. While these groups may look a little odd, you should be sure that you don’t jump to any conclusions.

ADENDUM: If you see people somewhere and you do get a creepy vibe then you are in no way obligated to go near them for the sake of seeing if they are playing Pokémon Go!
  8. IS IT SERIOUSLY GLITCHING AGAIN?!
With the app still be relatively new it is to be expected that the game might experience some errors but it can be quite irritating when you’ve just placed a lure and then the server crashes. Even worse when you find out the server might not be up for another hour or more.

All in all, you might have had at least one of these thoughts while playing the game. Even though the game has it’s bugs we’ve all found something in this app, gamers are going outside and making new friends in strange places.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
