Eight Things You May Need To Apologize To Your Mom For

We've all done things to our parents that now make us cringe. We were young and naive to all the amazing work our parents do. Our bubble of blissful ignorance to our parents' feelings has popped and it's time we recognize the sacrifices our parents have made, particularly moms. Here are eight things you may need to apologize to your mother for:

1. I'm sorry for all the nights I woke you when I cried as a baby. I know how strong you have to be as a mother and I will always be grateful that you were there to hold me and stop the tears.

2. Mom, I'm sorry for the times I threw temper tantrums as a child in public places, particularly grocery stores. I'm sorry for stripping my clothes off in the store, flailing on the ground crying for a toy or a treat until you had to abandon the cart and drag me out. Thank you for not giving in and thank you for reminding my friends of those times today.

3. I'm sorry to you and everyone who had to look at me when I decided I could give myself haircuts. Whether I was cutting gum out of my hair or just in the mood for extra extra extra short bangs, you laughed it off when you saw me and let me be a kid.

4. I'm sorry for the times I colored on the walls and made messes with my toys. You made sure we cleaned up but you still loved having a house that looked lived in, a home. We may not have always had a perfect-looking house, but it was perfect to grow up in.

5. I'm sorry for the dirty looks I shot at you during sporting events when I felt embarrassed as you and dad cheered me on. I was young and stupid, not knowing how much time, money, effort and care went into the sports or activities I was a part of. I truly appreciate all that you and dad did for me, even though I may not have shown it as a child.

6. I am truly sorry for ever telling you "I hate you" when we got in fights. I never did and I never could hate you. I know it's so hard to hear that from your child and I'm sorry for any time I ever said it. As I've (somewhat) matured into a woman I realize now more than ever that without a mother like you, I could not have grown up to be strong, independent and passionate about things I love. You did that for me. I would never hate you. I love you.

7. Mom, I am so sorry for the teenage years. They are "lost years" to me for the hormonal hurt I put you through. When I called you a bitch or screamed in your face, or watched you cry from my stinging words, you still loved me unconditionally. You stood by me through painful breakups and every bad day, loving me through unhappiness and sometimes even depression. You worked a thankless job and I will never be able to thank you enough now to make up for it. I once resented the fact that others told me I was just like you, but now I take it as the greatest compliment I could ever receive. If I grow up to be half the woman and mother you are, I will consider my life an amazing success.

8. I am sorry for any hurt I will ever cause you again. I am still young with room to grow and mistakes to make. Remember that I love you. Remember that any problems we may face are nothing compared to the journey we've been through. I live a beautiful, adventurous and fulfilling life thanks to the sacrifices you and dad make. I love you and I always will.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
