It's a new day, a new year actually, and of course a brand new semester. You double-check your schedule, head back to the dorms/class and get ready for spring. With just a few weeks until school's out I decided I'd write something up for the final stretch of the second semester. Before the hyperventilation over final exams and projects begins, let's have a few laughs.
Stage One: You're probably nocturnal. Your schedule's probably a mess. You can't go out in public without wearing a parka (unless it's a climate-change sunny day). But you're full of hope.
Stage Two: It's bitter cold, icy, and you're lamenting the days when you'd get the day off, but you're sliding around campus and fearing for your life. But, you see the syllabi, and at the time all the deadlines seem far, far away. You've got this handled.
Stage Three: Winter is not ending! Why do midterms have to happen all at once?! But, spring break is near. Look on the bright side and breathe.
Stage Four: Why is spring break only a week long. What kind of monster assigns homework and reading over spring break? Don't they understand it's a break?
Stage Five: It's almost April. You need to chat with your advisor about something. That final project you probably haven't started yet is due in a month. Plenty of time right?
Stage Six: You really should start packing. You should make summer plans. You should start that essay, project, or studying. But there's plenty of time. It'll all get done.
Stage Seven: What is this mythical sleep you speak of? Why is a test and a final essay necessary? Do you really need more than a day to write a term paper? Why did college seem like a good idea again? Can your parents write you a note to get you out of these deadlines?
Stage Eight: Summer!
Stay strong, guys!
