Living away from home is never easy. It's hard leaving your mom, your dad, and even your siblings. That being said, I was given five new sisters this semester. Here's eight reasons your suite mates are actually your sisters.

1. You spend most of your time with them.

We do basically everything together. I never have to worry about who I'm going to walk to class with, eat lunch with or go get coffee with. My suite mates are just there.

2. They tell you like it is.

If my outfit looks horrible, I'm going to know it. I never have to wonder how I look because someone will always give me a blunt and honest answer.

3. We basically share a closet.

I never have to worry about what I'm going wear because if I can't find anything of my own I have five other closets to look at.

4. They make sure you go to class.

I always have trouble waking up in the mornings and I always have someone to make sure I'm awake.

5. They always have to approve the guys you like.

We've always got each other's backs. If the suite mates don't approve, you probably shouldn't date him.

6. You're never lonely when you're getting ready in the morning.

With six girls sharing one tiny space, mornings can be pretty hectic. I always have someone to jam out with in the mornings.

7. We can watch Netflix separately and be in the same room and be happy.

A constant activity in our suite is what I like to call a Netflix circle. We all have our earbuds in watching our own shows but we still spend quality time together.

8. They motivate you to be the best person you can be.

Your suite mates always make sure that you are doing well spiritually, emotionally, academically, and physically. They sometimes use harsh methods like a jar in which you deposit money in (a.k.a. the shame jar) or sometimes its just a hug after a long day.

So thank you Suite 17 for being a home to me and my sisters. You're never alone in Suite 17.
