I love Thanksgiving. It's as simple as that. I love being with family, friends, food and more food. There are numerous dishes that are served on the table for the Thanksgiving holiday; however, my ideal menu has the following eight dishes.
1. Mac & Cheese
This dish is truly a gift sent from heaven. The more cheese, the better. If there's no macaroni and cheese present at the table, count me walking out the door and never coming back (just kidding).
2. Ham
Since I'm not a fan of turkey, (what a shame) I'm always looking for a delicious, glazed ham on the table for Thanksgiving.
3. Pot Roast
If for whatever reason there isn't ham present, pot roast is the other go-to choice of meat that I would happily eat. Please, make sure that it's well done!
4. Bunny Brown n Serve Rolls
These rolls are MANDATORY at any Thanksgiving meal I go to. These are some of the best rolls that you will ever eat. The best way to serve these rolls is to put them in the oven for a short time. Before you put them in the oven, put some butter on the top of the rolls. These rolls are addicting, so make sure you buy a lot because they will run out fast!
5. Southern style green beans
Of course, there has to be at least one vegetable option on the menu. That vegetable would be Southern style green beans with ham hocks and bacon. The green beans should not be crunchy; they should melt in your mouth and savory.
6. Baked Candied yams
These aren't your regular sweet potatoes. These yams could easily pass for dessert because of the sugar content, but it's Thanksgiving! Who cares?
7. Cajun Dirty Rice/ Rice Dressing
Let the starches continue! Cajun dirty rice is a simple dish that's easy to make. Rice and ground beef are your main ingredients, but feel free to add any type of onion, bell pepper, or seasonings.
8. Sweet potato pie
We can't forget dessert! You know you have to fit dessert in somehow. What better way to do that than eating sweet potato pie? If I come to your house for Thanksgiving, just reserve a sweet potato pie just for me. Thank you!
Whatever your menu is for Thanksgiving, always remember: if you want something specifically, U NAMEEEE IT!!
