Fall is a beautiful season in Happy Valley. The leaves are changing colors and the temperatures are no longer sweltering. Some may joke that fall doesn’t last for long in Happy Valley because it becomes cold really fast. However, for the short time that it feels like fall, it is one of the best seasons.
Below is a list of the ten best things about fall in Happy Valley.
Campus is beautiful. The leaves are changing colors then beginning to fall.
Football. You know I can’t write an article without mentioning football. Football is back and the Nittany Lions are playing their hearts out. Some of the best games are set to take place this fall, such as the Michigan game at the end of the football season.
Canning. Fundraising for THON is just underway as fall rolls in. Canning is one of the biggest ways organizations fundraise. THON volunteers travel all over the area to stand on street corners, waving their cans to raise money for the kids.
Everyone is back! Fall semester is the beginning of a new year for everyone. Friends reunite and catch up on what happened over the break. Summer has been good to some, and it's always fun to see who has a new haircut or lost a few pounds. Others brag about their summer internships while some talk about all the sleep they got.
Fashion. The fashion in Happy Valley is unique. Sorority girls rock the oversize sweaters and Bean boots almost every day. Boys wear Bean boots as well but their outfits change. This fall will probably bring a new fad. What will it be?
Homecoming. This year, homecoming will occur from October 4th-10th. This year the Nittany Lions will battle it out to against Indiana come Saturday. Homecoming is a great time for alum to come back and celebrate in the happiest of valleys. Many friends and family members also come and visit to enjoy all the festivities the week has to offer. The parade is always fun for people to watch as the floats get better and better each year.
Concerts. There are some great acts that come to Penn State. This year, Paul McCartney is taking his talents to the Bryce Jordan Center on October 15th. Fans of all ages will be in attendance to watch the Beatles legend sing his heart out.
Halloween. Halloween in Happy Valley always gets interesting. Girls run around barely clothed while many guys try to pull off a simple look they put together in five minutes. Every year there are a few costumes that stick out. Which costumes will be the talk of the town this fall?
Fall is a great time for Penn Staters. Enjoy the few months that autumn provides for us before it becomes near arctic conditions when winter makes it’s way into town.
