With all these new healthy food trends, you have to be able to spot the fact from the fiction! Fortunately, time is a great indicator of reliability and the Mediterranean diet is a classic that will help anyone stay in shape whether you're a college student or a retired

The link between the healthy people of the Mediterranean area and their diet have inspired people all over the world to adopt their daily food patterns. The Mediterranean diet originates from the rich traditional eating style of the people in the Mediterranean basin. It focuses on food that is plentiful in the area and was available for the Romans in the middle ages. In fact, this diet influenced the key elements of Christian liturgy; bread, oil, wine. This religious adoption of the diet caused it to spread to areas far beyond the Mediterranean basin and become popularized throughout Latin and Muslim cultures.

The Mediterranean diet focuses on the original Roman diet of bread, oil, and wine and expands to a much more diverse diet with great emphasis on fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts, and fish. Foods such as red meats, processed meats, dairy, and wine are moderated in this diet allowing maximum health benefits as well as taking good use to the abundant food available in the Mediterranean region. This diet contradicts the common belief that fats make you gain weight as this is a high fat diet straying away from saturated and trans fat. It incompases a variety of healthy fats, primarily olive oil, which is responsible for much of the diet’s health benefit.

If you want to clean up your digestive system, live a healthy lifestyle, and get in shape, take a look into the Mediterranean diet! Its ease will have you wishing you never tried to go gluten free or vegan.

Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
