Ritz Sports Zone
Even though The Mascot is a campus-wide favorite, it is definitely not an item that should be eaten every day. If it had less than 42g of fat then maybe we would reconsider.
Eat This: Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Tiger Sauce on the side.
Not That: Mascot Panini
Gracie's
Although, not the dining location of choice on campus, there are some items to be wary of and some items to reconsider choosing.
Eat This: Whole Grain Pasta with Red Sauce and a Side of Bread (yes, bread! And maybe a side salad..).
Not That: Chicken Fingers and Fries. (We don't even want to know the numbers if it were cheese fries.)
Café and Market at Crossroads
I know we're in Rochester, but if a garbage plate is your first choice it might be your last one after this.
Eat This: Turkey Sandwich on Sandwich Thins with a Side of Fruit/Veggies
Not That: Cheeseburger Roadie (aka Garbage plate).
CTRL ALT DELi
Just because you need something quick does not mean you should ignore the nutrition label!
Eat This: Ham and Swiss Sub (don't forget your apple on the way to the check-out).
Not That: Hard Drive Panini
The Commons
Just because the word salad is in the title does not mean anything. You should always check Smart Nutrition before you eat anywhere on campus to make sure it is really what you want to eat.
Eat This: Make Your Own Salad
Not That: Large Chicken Caesar Salad
Brick City Café
I think I can speak for everyone when I say that this is the best place to get breakfast on campus. The question is are you picking the right food to fuel your day?
Eat This: Veggie Omelet
Not That: Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich
Artesano's
Even though their tasty treats are hard to resist, they should not become a daily habit.
Eat This: Veggie Breakfast Wrap
Not That: Bacon/Egg Quiche
Freshens
Rice bowls seem to be the new fad around campus. Are you picking the right one?
Eat This: Florence Rice Bowl
Not That: Mexican Rice Bowl
Nathan's Soup and Salad
You have to be a little careful when picking which creamy soup you want your lunch to include. Of course, the best options would be a non-cream based soup like Chicken Noodle or Grandma's Italian Wedding. If you're really in the mood for a creamy soup then here's a tip!
Eat This: Cream of Broccoli
Not That: Mac & Cheese Soup
No matter where you go on campus to grab a bite to eat you will always find yourself with a choice. Don't be afraid to ask the dining worker for any accommodations such as no bun or no cheese. Make sure you are grabbing an apple or banana on the way out instead of a bag of chips. Always remember that Oscar Wilde once said, "Everything in moderation, including moderation". With that being said, I can already hear that Artesano's cookie calling your name tomorrow.
