New Orleans is surely an interesting city, considering drinking is completely okay, as long as it isn't in glass. In my opinion, New Orleans is not about the bars and strip clubs, well not all of it anyway. Its about the food and culture, but mostly the food. Here's a list of things you must eat when visiting.
1. Beignets

2. Muffuletta

3. Crawfish Étouffée
Crawfish covered in a decadent sauce, and usually served with rice. Although, you could smother a Hershey's bar in Étouffeé and it would taste pretty freaking good.
4. Jambalaya

6. Po' boy
The Po' boy is another staple in New Orleans, if you notice, there aren't many meals without some sort of bread. They have a large variety of fillings from soft shell crabs to oyster. You cannot go wrong with any one of these towering sandwiches.
7. Oysters
When you are down there, you must get some fresh oysters at least once while you are there. For first time consumers, the texture is strange, but they have a great taste
8. Burger at Port of Call
Port of Call isn't a restaurant you would see on a visit New Orleans brochure. Port of Call is tucked away from the crowded french quarter. The only things on the menu are Burgers, Steaks, Pizza, Baked Potatoes. No fries. It's really an all around interesting experience, complete with dim lighting, and tacky decor.
9. Willie May's Fried chicken
Next on the list is Willie May's. They offer a variety of southern comforts, but mostly they are known for churning out possibly the nations greatest fried chicken. But make sure you get all of the fattening sides too, New Orleans is an indulgent city, so loosen up your belts!
10. Pralines
Pralines are almost like cookies, but they aren't, they are more like a sweet candy. Pralines are also amazingly huge in New Orleans, if you don't get one you are so wrong. I may have brought a lot home with me...shhh!
11. Alligator

12. Oh and wait...there's more!
There's an alligator eating a hot dog, hopefully it isn't the same one I had, because that would be strange
