With move-in day quickly approaching and set up plans swirling around in my head, I thought it only fitting to share my ideas with all of you! :)
1. A Wall Tapestry
Depending on the room you are assigned, your wall space is either nothing or massive. If you don't want to buy and hang up several pieces of wall décor, a tapestry is perfect for you! Tapestries generally retail anywhere from $35-50 and are such an easy way to decorate quickly. Tapestries instantly change the look and feel of a room, and only take a few moments to put up! Some of my favorite tapestries are sold at Urban Outfitters and on the Society 6 website.
2. A Chair vs. Futon
When it comes to dorm room socialization, seating is highly important. If someone comes in your room to hang out, you want them to have somewhere to sit! Personally, I recommend getting a chair, especially if you are on a higher floor of the residential hall. Chairs are light and easy to take up and down stairs, plus they don't take up much room! Futons are good options as well, but are better if you live on the lower floors of a residential hall. Futons are heavier and take up more room, however they do allow for a nice place to nap/watch TV!
3. Lighting
The lighting in a dorm room can be rather harsh and yellow, thus I tend to not to use the overhead light in my room. I prefer lamps and string lights. They look trendy, and don't break the bank! If you need more light I would suggest a lamp, and string lights would be better for creating a relaxing vibe for movie nights, etc.
4. Photos, Photos, Photos
The key to making a dorm homey is personalization. What is more personal than photos? It is so comforting to see the faces of your family and friends around your dorm, and when put in nice frames or strung up on twine, look super nice! It is super simple and really makes an impact on the look and vibe of your dorm!
Those were just a few simple ideas on how to make your dorm room super cute and cozy! Good luck this year y'all and happy decorating! :)
