If you grew up with a sibling that was naturally good at video games, you understand the frustration of not being able to conquer those games yourself. You're telling me that button mashing isn't the best way to win? That each button has a function, and you can use them to make wicked combinations and win? (I finally beat my brother - actually anyone - at Super Smash Bros for the first time in my life this winter break. It was so satisfying).

Here's the good news: there are so many fun video games that even the most challenged of us can play. And really, who needs those shooting games when you have these anyways? Here are a few alternatives that everyone can play.

1. The Lego Games

You're going to laugh, and you should - these are fun AND hilarious! The most amazing part of the Lego video games is the humor and utter ridiculousness of them. They're super easy to play, with every button having ONE function only, and no need for combining anything to make a certain move. And, every one of them has a ton of hidden trinkets or studs of various types in every level, so it's a game that you can keep going back to. You will always find something new!

2. The Sims

Create the best, most ridiculous life for your character that you want! There are no limits to The Sims and all of its different expansion packs, especially in the most updated versions of the game. Not to mention, so many different challenges have been created by so-called "professional gamers" that everyone can play, with their own rules and restrictions! This game is truly a test of just how much imagination you have, with no possible way to fail.

3. Zoo Tycoon

Build your own zoo styled however you want! If you want a challenge, play one of the campaigns offered within the game! The only strategy required is what animals to put where, and how many exhibits you can fit in your zoo before you run out of room!

4. Spyro Trilogy Reignited

The Spyro games were always a favorite of mine, even though as a kid, I couldn't beat any of them without asking my brother for help. If you want a nice, moderately difficult game to build your skills, this is the one for you! It's got a simple plot with, once again, plenty of hidden treasures throughout each level!

5. Peggle

This game is an excellent time killer, with multiple levels of increasing difficulty for every new "mentor" that comes along. Before you know it, you'll be a Peggle Master that can beat any challenge in your way!

We Need More Than Memorials this Memorial Day
Cape Cod Irish

When I was a child, I used to look forward to Memorial Day Weekend from the time I returned to school after Christmas vacation. It was the yearly benchmark announcing the end of the school year and the beginning of summer vacation. It meant I was one step closer to regattas, swim meets and tennis matches.

I remember how exciting summer was when I was a kid. I would just be eagerly waiting for school to end so that I could fly to some exotic location with my family for the summer. Or hang out with my friends every day. Or just lay around in bed or read, paint, draw, basically do whatever.

When we think of events that have transpired in the US over the last few years, a lot of it ends up in spotlighting the division in the country. However, things across the pond seem to be no better - at least when it comes to sports.
