An Early Summer Bucket List

"Happiness is a day at the beach."

An Early Summer Bucket List

ause of the warmer weather recently, I have been thinking about summer and how much I can't wait for it to come. This weather has definitely helped me get a jump start on a summer bucket list, which is something I make every year.

1. Spend time on the boardwalk.

Whether it's day or night, the boardwalk is always festive and always makes me feel so happy. During the day, you get to see people just off the beach, eating pizza and soft serve ice cream and shopping the store fronts. At night, you get to ride the rides and have a nice dinner right next to the warm ocean breeze. It really can't get any better than that.

2. Go shell picking early in the morning.

This is a tradition that I have with my grandma, but it's definitely something that I suggest. Waking up early when there is no one on the beach and getting your first pick at the shells and feeling how cold the ocean is going to be that day is such a good experience. For me, I love being able to spend that quality time with my grandma and finding the perfect shells to take home and display on the counter top.

3. Take a lot of pictures.

Yeah, this is a little cheesy, but one of my favorite things to do in the winter is look on the wall next to my bed and see all of the pictures hung up from the summer. It reminds me that soon all of the cold weather and stresses of school are worth it to have such a fantastic summer.

4. Take walks.

I want to meet up with as many friends as I can and walk in different places. My family and I love to take walks and have found so many cool places to walk around and explore. It is such a good bonding time to spend with whoever you're walking with and it helps you stay active and gives you the opportunity to enjoy the summer weather with good company.

5. Have bonfires.

A bonfire on a summer night is something that I think everyone loves. Sitting around and talking and making s'mores with friends is always like a scene out of the movies.

6. Make Summery Food and Drinks.

I want to BBQ and make all kinds of fun summer food and drinks. How good does a shrimp kebab and a watermelon lemonade while sitting in the sun sound?

7. Eat meals outside.

Restaurants with outside seating usually have such a great atmosphere and it's so fun to be around that. Also, a lunch on the beach or in your back yard just makes the day seem longer and more fun and productive.

8. See a sunrise/sunset on the beach.

Another cheesy one, but let's be real. Who doesn't want to see a beautiful sunset on the beach. I've always wanted to do it with my boyfriend and I'm hoping this summer will be the one to do it.

9. Go to outdoor movies/concerts.

Outdoor concerts and movies are a lot of people's definitions of summer. It is so fun to be surrounded with people, live music, and festivities.

10. Try something new.

Regardless of what it is, trying something new is always fun. Maybe I'll get lighter highlights, or maybe I'll travel some place I've never been before. Whether it's big or small, something new is good.

I know that I'm going to keep adding to this list and get more specific as the school year comes to an end and the weather continues to get warmer, and I'm sure you all will too. Summer is so close, yet so far away, but maybe having an early summer bucket list will help us all through these last few weeks of cooler weather and school.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
