Over the weekend I went to see "Suicide Squad." While that movie would be an article on its own, there was an interesting but short teaser in the pool of pre-Suicide-Suqad-trailers.
"Dunkirk" is a movie I wrote about a while back when the film was first poking its nose up from it's egg.
From filmmaker Christopher Nolan, the epic action thriller "DUNKIRK" is due in theaters on July 21, 2017.
The trailer was just a teaser of course. I wouldn't even call it a trailer, more of an announcement. The movie is still in production, but that doesn't mean that Nolan can't start a buzz of excitement. As I sat in the movie theater I heard hushed voices whispering fervently. Everyone was craning to see a glimpse of Harry Styles or the slew of other A-Listers who he will appear in the movie along side. People such as Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy and Mark Rylance. None of them appeared to be clearly show-cased, adding to the mystery of the film.
As the trailer begins it boasts a war-time movie of epic proportions, breaking artfully intense snippets of the WWII cinematography with words that build a sense of foreboding. Paired with the tune that sounds like a heart beating faster and faster and the "tick-tock" of a clock that grows quicker as the heart does, Nolan's gritty and authentic tone makes it's mark. Coming in at just over one minute, the trailer does not give any true plot points away. What we know about the movie comes from history lessons. The teaser builds suspense, but it's primary intent was to serve as an announcement to audiences that a brand new Nolan film is on its way after a nearly two year wait.
"Dunkirk" will chronicle The Battle of Dunkirk which took place in Dunkirk, France, during WWII, and was the defense and evacuation of British and allied forces in Europe following the Nazi invasion of France in earlier stages of the war."
