Just a few month's after One Direction's announcement that the band would be taking a hiatus (aka they were breaking up and didn't want the fans to flip out) Harry Styles is going to be making his acting debut. Well, we can't really call it a debut can we? Who could forget him on" iCarly"?
This is the first time, however, Harry Styles will be in a feature length film, specifically, a Christopher Nolan WWII epic called, "Dunkirk."
Christopher Nolan, the critically acclaimed writer-director who crafted Oscar winning movies such as "The Dark Knight," "Inception," and "Interstellar," has collected himself an interesting and talented cast, as well as some fairly unknown new actors to support his newest film. "Dunkirk" will chronicle The Battle of Dunkirk which took place in Dunkirk, France, during WWII, and was the defense and evacuation of British and allied forces in Europe following the Nazi invasion of France in earlier stages of the war.
"Dunkirk" will star familiar faces such as "Peaky Blinders" actor Cillian Murphy, who has worked with Nolan on "Inception" and his "Batman Begins" film.
Fellow "Peaky Blinders" star, Tom Hardy ("Mad Max"), will also be a part of the cast. The movie also stars Mark Rylance ("Bridge of Spies"), Kenneth Branagh ("Valkyrie") and of course our dear sweet little Harry Styles.
The movie is set for a July 2017 release date, and Nolan wrote the script himself without his brother collaborating with him as usual. His "Interstellar" cinematographer, Hoyte van Hoytema, will be working with him, as well as famed and long-time Nolan composer Hans Zimmer. People are interested to see if Harry has the acting chops. I'm just excited to see what Nolan has cooked up this time for us. His films have a beautiful but very specific style and I can't wait to see more!
Here are some behind-the-scenes looks at the film so far:
