Ever since I was little, I had a huge thing for drumming. I would literally go around and just hit things, trying to get a beat going. As time passed, and I got older, I became more interested in drumming. When I was about 5 years old, my mom's boyfriend bought me my first drum kit. We kept it in the basement. Almost every night, I would go down there, jam out and learn more beats. When I was about six years old, I started doing drums in my school. We would practice a lot and then perform every once in a while in front of people. It was great because I met new people and I learned a lot about drumming.
Time went on, and I got older. At the age of 10, I got a new drum set, and I loved it. It was so much bigger, with louder and bigger sound. Every day and night, I would be downstairs jamming out. Years went by and I saw that the two male teachers that were teaching us at my school had their own band. It was an honors band, and little did I know, I was about to be a part of it.
In the honors band, they pick two or three of the best students from each school in the area. I was so happy that I got picked. I got extremely close to all of the people in the group. Years go by, and more practice too. I was the girl that was always able to read the notes and have no trouble.
I continued in the band, met new people, had fun and performed at different high schools. It was great knowing that random people would come to watch up perform. It made me and the rest of the group feel special. Then senior came, and I was upset because I knew that it would be my last year in the band.
Drumming has always been my passion, it was and will always be. Even if I'm not drumming to a song, and just drumming randomly, I'm still loving it. The best time, is when you just fool around and hit random drums. Everyone in the world, has a passion or a dream that they want, and mine is drums. Since I was little and until i'm too old to walk, my passion will be drumming.
I would like to send a huge thank you to my moms boyfriend, Jim. Without you, I wouldn't have started drumming and been who I am now. When I got my bigger drum set, he would fool around on the small one when I was on the bigger one. We would have drum battles, it was a great time. I would never take that back...ever! Whether I'm sad, upset, or anything, all I have to do is grab drumsticks, go to the drums and jam out.
