9 Things That Will Trigger a South Florida Driver

Road Rage? Yes. Road Rules? Nah.

Let me start off by saying, there is nothing like driving in South Florida, especially Miami. Miami drivers are crazy. Miami drivers are insane. Nobody on the road is your friend. Everyone is on a mission and nobody has time for you. Road Rage? That's a thing? Following the rules? That is not a thing. If you're local, these next nine points will trigger you.

1. Merging into traffic like you own the streets.

No buddy, just because you wave your hand out of the window and then hide your face as you try to merge onto US1 from CVS isn't going to slow my 45 mph vehicle down on time for your graceful entrance. Wait until we pass, thank you.

2. A blinker? What's that?

Blinker? Turn signal? Do cars even have those anymore?

3. If you do decide to use one...

SIKE! Just don't. If the driver you're trying to get ahead of spots even the smallest glimpse of indication that you want to skip, they will immediately speed up and leave you missing your exit.

4. Mission impossible: switching lanes.

South Florida drivers would rather hit you than ever let you switch lanes. I am convinced. It's a war zone on the streets.

5. Stops signs are only a recommendation.

What do they say about stop signs? 3 Mississippi's? Ha, not here.

6. Law enforcement has no rules.

Red means go. Green means stop. Sure, let's just switch lanes in the middle of an intersection. Solid line? Broken line? No parking zone? It's all the same thing! What are rules?!

7. Prepare to be sued if you don't move half a second after the light turns green.

It's like a competition. Can they honk at me before my reaction time kicks in? Please.

8. As latinos would say, South Florida drivers are "siempre inventando".

"Siempre inventado" translates to "always inventing" meaning, if you aren't going to make that left turn across US1 and into Dadeland Mall, then the car behind you will whip out from behind and take that light for you.

9. Only the strong survive.

It is full on chaos out there. Drivers coming at you from every direction. Some going slow in the fast lane, others going fast in the slow lanes. Drivers coming out of nowhere, honking at you for no reason, flicking you off because they got out of work 5 minutes after they wanted to. Everyone is out there for themselves.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
