Driving Is My Favorite Hobby

It Helps Me Feel Closer To God

Call me crazy, weird, boring, and the like (most of those are probably true), but there is nothing better than driving down a new road while listening to my favorite Jesus music. You cannot convince me of anything more fun. Driving makes me feel closer to God in many different ways. I'm so thankful that I live in the 21st century (and that my parents let me borrow their cars). I shall now proceed to list the 5 amazing reasons why driving helps me feel closer to God. (Lowkey crying right now because DRIVING IS MY FAVORITE AND I JUST WANT TO DRIVE ALL THE TIME I THINK I MIGHT HAVE AN OBSESSION I'M NOT SURE).

1.) Zoning Out

I love driving on country roads and discovering new places, but there's something about driving 70mph down a highway. It allows you to go into autopilot and just think about, well, life. It's not often that we get time, in our busy lives, to just think. But somehow, even if I'm on my way to an important meeting or event, the drive on the way there allows me to sort things out in my head. And I love that special time to just think.

2.) Alone Time

Driving with people can be so much fun, but sometimes driving alone allows me to be myself. I can sing, dance, talk to myself like a wack-o, and not get judged for any of it. A car is like a little bubble of solitude where you can lock yourself in and be away from the world for a little while.

3.) Jesus Music

The car sound system just makes music so much better. Especially since the bass can get turned up so high. Whenever I buy some new music, I can't wait to go for a drive. My Beats don't compare to the shake of the car when the bass gets a bumpin'. When a worship song comes on through that aux cord...I start crying and singing to the top of my lungs. (I literally cry. Don't judge me. The worship is real). When some Gospel Rap comes through, be assured that I'm rapping all the words and doing the whip in the driver's seat. I also may head-bang a little bit when Skillet comes on...

4.) New Places

Who doesn't love traveling? It's so awesome to discover a road with a beautiful view, or a road that seems like a secret place in Narnia, or a road that takes you off-road. Sometimes it's fun to daydream and drive through the city, gazing at all the unique shops and people. What better way to discover the word than in the safety of your vehicle? Driving gives me an appreciation for the beautiful landscapes God has provided us with.

5.) Vehicles In General

All in all, I find anything with an engine super intriguing. The sound, the power, the way they work- it's amazing and wonderful. Being able to drive a car and know about the responsibility (and fun) that comes with it makes me feel like quite a special little human. I could be driving a lemon car and I'd feel like one of the happiest people on Earth. It definitely makes me grateful to God for the knowledge He has given us.

Maybe I am a weird person, but I feel like other people have the same love for being on the road. So, if you need me, I'll be out driving somewhere, singing "Oceans" to the top of my lungs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
