We live in a world where you’re basically faced with the obstacle, at some point in life, of picking a career that you will do for the rest of your life. For some this is hard, and for others it is easy. Sometimes it may take a real life situation to show yourself where you belong. Often times, I see and hear people that hate their jobs and to myself I think, “That is so unfortunate.” No one should have to spend a lifetime on a career that is unenjoyable. Easy solution… do not force a career on yourself for any reason but passion. College is a short (and might I add, stressful) four years but once you graduate, you get to start a career that you actually really love and if not, then all the hard work is not worth it.
Every day brings a new battle and it is the strength that is a test of our limits. If we fail, we pick ourselves up and continue in the journey. Failure is only a word, and yet it can be the most damaging. Don’t be “word-bullied.” Accept imperfections because in the eyes of God, we are perfectly imperfect. Living a life driven by passion is accepting a life with no borders to where every day is different but never impossible. Passion is the purpose that becomes a profession. We all have a footprint in the world but it is how we finish the race that matters. The day you reach perfection is the day you have stopped running on passion. Failures are the best blessings in disguise because they push us harder than ever.
Take Michael Jordan for an example. One of the greatest basketball players to live. He did not make his high school basketball team and could have easily given up. His passion for the game of basketball took him places he would have never thought about. Now, I am not saying it is that easy to make tons of money and have your own shoe line. If everyone had this mindset and just kept pushing and sacrificed for passion, then there would be some unstoppable forces.
We are not guaranteed to wake up or even for the sun to come up every day. Life is simply unpredictable. I do not want to live my life thinking about the next day. I want to live in the day and make the day beautiful. Each day is a fight that I might even lose but I know that I have the passion and grit to dust off my knees, tie my shoes and keep pushing forward. Think in the present and take a moment to realize that in the end when we all pass on, we should look back and think, “I lived an amazing, full and blessed life.”
“Passion is oxygen of the soul.” – Bill Butler
