Dressing Up At Every Age Is Perfectly Okay

Whether you are nine or 19, always dress up and go all out for every occasion.

Dressing up for Halloween from ages Newborn to about 13 is considered socially acceptable.

Okay. Cool. Now, what about all the ages after that?

Is everyone else supposed to just sit on their front porch handing out candy or locked inside their room watching Hocus Pocus all night?

Personally, I think dressing up at every single age is perfectly okay, and everyone should take part in it!

Halloween is a holiday basically everyone looks forward too. Scary movies, candy, fall weather, and then there’s everyone’s chance to use all the imagination and creativity they have stored in their brain on a costume.

Halloween costumes are more than just for show. A person’s costume can really tell you a lot about them. When referring to a younger kid, they always have exactly what they want in mind even if it takes them a few times to get it right. Some kids use their costume to let everyone know who or what they want to be or to show their recent interests.

Flash forward to High School age, are you supposed to dress up for Halloween? Like if you do, what even is the point because all you do is go to school then more than likely go home. High School is that awkward age of not knowing what you’re going to do on Halloween so why even dress up? Uhm, who cares?

Make a sweet costume everyone will remember and showcase it off at school. Wear it to take tons of pictures with your besties and then go trick or treating! Do you have to be a certain age to enjoy candy? No, you don't so don't let anyone turn you down.

Then let’s talk about college, everyone, I mean everyone dresses up and the costumes are outrageous. Halloween in college lasts basically an entire week and people seriously make a different costume for every single night. This year, as a Freshman, I decided to play it safe.

I was Alice from Alice in Wonderland and my roommate was the Queen of Hearts. We had simple costumes that really portrayed our characters as people. Alice is a confused, lost character just trying to find her way in Wonderland.

I personally feel like that describes every college student. I loved being Alice for the night and being able to enjoy Halloween with all my best friends.

Dressing up is more than just putting on a costume either silly, cute, or maybe a little risqué. It’s about the creativity and imagination of each individual and the excitement of a holiday. It's about getting to be someone else for the night. It's about owning your uniqueness and being proud of who you are.

Instead of telling someone they are too old to dress up for Halloween, encourage them to put their mind into a costume everyone will remember and have a night they’ll never forget!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
