High School:
Regularly enforced dress code to ensure everyone was following the set guidelines. Guidelines set by whom not entirely known. Some could get away with wearing shorter shorts, dresses and skirts, because their arms are shorter than yours or they shorten their arm to make it look like they are long enough.
For a few days of the new semester, everyone had to stand up during first period and see if they would pass “inspection” by the teacher. If you had holes above the knee, too short bottoms, too much skin showing on top or THE SHOULDERS were showing, you were sent to the office and ultimately if they also thought it is inappropriate you’d have to go home and change.
Personally, you shouldn’t be sent home to change if your clothes don’t fit the guidelines exactly. I honestly wouldn’t have come back, if I was sent home; I’m saying that from the viewpoint of a graduate, as a HS student I would have come back; its gas money having to drive home and back just to change clothes. What if you didn't have a car, did your parents have to come and drop off clothes. It is embarrassing to be sent to the office because of clothes, no one should have to bring extra clothes with them to school by keeping it in backpacks or in a car.
Maybe that morning, I was running behind and had to throw on clothes and didn’t realize it was inappropriate (it can be viewed as an excuse) but for some it is true.It isn't fair that some can get away with the clothes they wear while you couldn't.
A warning or alternative (non-embarrassing) clothes should be provided, for ever size and both genders.
College:
You can wear what you please!
If you need to be dressed up for a special event, dress length and showing shoulders aren’t scrutinized. If you would like to come to class in pajamas, go for it; if you’d like to wear super short work out shorts to class, I might judge and so will others but go for it. Professors don’t care and your peers don’t care. In high school, girls would bring blankets to class to cover their legs, in higher education both girls and boys will be wearing Snuggies in class.
Another huge issue, that isn't an issue at school is hats, some classes may ask that you remove them, but rarely but we can walk around campus with them on.
All kinds of clothes are seen on college campuses, we don’t judge.
You can wear whatever you want, people may judge for a super short shorts, a crop top, leggings, or tank tops; honestly, you would be judged no matter where you went, in college people don’t comment as much because we are way too tired to care what you wore.
