Being a kid is so pure. You believe almost anything people say. You think you can fly or be as tall as the Empire State Building. There's always a little glimpse of hope in you because your dreams are endless. When I was little, I always daydreamed in class, and every adult would snap me out of it. I figured that was because I wasn't paying attention, but that wasn't the full story.
I feel like adults are always so caught up in reality that they can't dream anymore. They are always thinking about paying bills or getting the kids ready for school. The worst part is that adults almost always shut you down for dreaming or having a vision. Teens are "negative" because we are in such a weird stage of trying to grow up and not be kids anymore. The problem is that adults have a problem with us being "too grown" and yet "too childish" at the same time, while teens are simply trying to manage being grown up while dreaming like a kid. That eventually stops when we can't do both, so we quit dreaming altogether.
I love watching how kids can turn anything into a fun time. My little brother can pretend to be a superhero all by himself, and he has the time of his life. I would hate to have his dreams crushed by the negativity of life. I want to keep my dreams for as long as possible. I want to do so much with my life, and I refuse to let age kill my view on life. My advice to you is to dream forever, because that way when times get rough, you have something to hold on to.
