The Top 10 Drake Songs That Saved Me
Pexel

There are a bunch of #1 songs that Drake has created. It is so hard to limit his excellence. I do not say excellence lightly. I am talking excellence as in I have a Drake tattoo that is permanently on me forever. The day I got that tattoo was the day that I realized that Drake was more of an obsession for me, but I know that I am not the only one.

I tweeted several polls posing the question: "which song on each of Drake's albums are your favorite?" I knew I had to ask the community, because if I did not, I would be narrowing my favorites down for the next two years. I finally came up with the perfect list and my reasons as to why each are my favorite. Heads up: I only chose Drake songs with only him, which does not include collabs.

10. Shut It Down -- Thank Me Later

This song made 12-year-old me think that I was the baddest bitch around. The lyrics "girl, you're the greatest; and if he say you ain't, girl he's out of his mind" were the lyrics that played though my head all of the time. Those were the lyrics that made me turn down every single guy at the middle school winter dance. This song saved me, because it showed me that I deserve someone who tells me that I am the greatest.

9. Star67 -- If You're Reading This It's Too Late

Have you ever been on a road trip and stared out the window as if everything were in slow motion? Or as if the lyrics coming through your headphones were actually happening to you? Well this was that song for me. This song saved me, because I had just graduated high school. Now I had a song that made me feel safe as I walked the halls as my local community college.

8. Teenage Fever -- More Life

Sometimes I drive around just listening to this song because of its beat. This song saved me, because it masked my road rage. How can you get road rage while listening to this song? It is impossible.

7. Redemption -- Views

I remember listening to this song for the first time at 7am while at work. After listening, I tweeted, "Can a record label just sign me already? My minimum wage job is not cutting it anymore?" This song saved me, because it opened my eyes for whatever reason. It is like it gave me the balls that I do not even have. What if my job saw that tweet?

6. Come Thru -- Nothing Was the Same

I feel like Nothing Was the Same was an album full of collabs. This is the best solo Drake song on that album. I also feel like this is every single "players" anthem. The song encourages those 3am texts from random boys that you have never met. This song saved me, because I got the chance to be in the mind of a fuckboy.

5. Nonstop -- Scorpion

Do you know that dance move that looks like you are stirring an imaginary pot that you are holding in your elbow? That is the only dance I do to this song. This song saved me, because at least I know one dance move appropriate for a song.

4. Fire & Desire -- Views

Best intro ever created. This song saved me, because there is never a bad time to listen to it. The song speaks for itself. That is all I have to say about that.

3. Doing It Wrong -- Take Care

This is the type of song that you can only think about in the shower, because it tugs at every single heart string. You do not have a significant other? You will still cry about one. This song saved me, because of the verse "when a good thing goes bad, it is not the end of the world; it is just the end of a world that you had with one girl." That verse has put a band aid on each and every broken heart I have ever experienced. Of course that band aid was a temporary fix, because I am 21 years old now; my 15-year-old self was so vulnerable.

2. Headlines -- Take Care

I remember going on a family vacation up to Wisconsin one year. It was a 12+ hour drive to my grandparents. My brother was about 9 years old at the time. He took one of my earbuds out so he could listen too. We memorized this whole song during the 12-hour drive. Now when we try to sing it, our asthma acts up, because Drake can do verses that feel like they go on forever and he does not even breathe. This song saved me, because it taught me that I need an inhaler ASAP.

1. Passionfruit -- More Life

THIS IS THE SONG OF THE DECADE. Some days, my depression hits me really hard, almost like the moon has fallen on top of me. I believe in retail therapy so I normally just go shopping. When I get in my car, I just type in Drake into my Apple Music search bar not knowing what song will play. The second I hear this song come on, it is like my depression goes away for 4 minutes and 59 seconds. How can you not want to scream the chorus? This song saved me, because it taught me that I am in charge of my depression so why not sing it out?

I love you, Drake. I hope you see this, xoxo.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
