I won’t tell the label, but I’ll tell you.

In his newest music video, or what he calls “the most important thing I have ever done in my career,” Drake gives away the nearly million-dollar budget to the Miami community.

The “God’s Plan” video follows Drake as he partakes in these generous acts, including donating $25,000 to Miami Senior High School; $50,000 to help cover tuition for a University of Miami student; $50,000 to a homeless shelter for women and children as well as delivering toys; pays for everyone’s groceries at a supermarket; surprises a family with a new car; and hands out stacks of cash to several in need, in the Miami area.

“We gave it all away” the opening title read, and similarly, we have the opportunity to give our all to others through service. While Drake’s way of giving back was through monetary donations, yours doesn’t have to be. There are endless ways to serve those around you, whether it be through donations, volunteer work, or advocacy, we each have the potential to give back.

Though giving back to others is more feasible for Drake than us, we have plenty of ways to get involved. Some common ways to serve others are by tutoring, mentoring, volunteering with an organization, donating money or items, or even writing to legislators to share your thoughts and push for legislation to improve the community.

Beyond just giving back to others, the video highlights the importance of genuinely caring for others. The inherently selfish nature of human beings tends to cloud our vision and at times, we forget to appreciate those around us and don’t take the time to humble ourselves.

Unfortunately for Drake “it’s a lot of bad things that they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’” on him, but the only wish I have for you is that his acts of kindness will inspire you to do the same.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
