A Dozen Doable New Year's Resolutions

New Year's resolutions are hard to stick with; especially if you're a hot mess of a college student living off of last night's leftover pizza, seem to have a mild 24/7 hangover, and cry a minimum of four times a week– however, here are some new year's resolutions that might actually be doable.

1. JUST GO

You say you're going to go all the time, and simply wearing workout clothes doesn't qualify as going to the gym! JUST DO IT!! It's a new year, and even if you can only make your half-motivated self go two or three times a week, you'll feel better, more accomplished, and healthier. First resolution, work out at least three times a week.

2. Quit drunk eating

200 calories.... 200 calories in one Redbull-vodka... times that by how many? Do you really need that 3:00 a.m. slice of "chicken," bacon, ranch pizza? Save your money, and spare your health. You don't need diner food at 2 a.m. and your wallet doesn't need the damage either. Resolution number 2; put down the CBR...

3. Splurge when you DESERVE it

Ok, ok, I know we're all trying to be healthy– but by cutting out eating at 2 or 3 a.m. after a night out, you can save your cheats for those long nights of studying, or a movie night with friends. In the new year, don't be so hard on yourself– you deserve to enjoy the things you like, as long as it's in moderation. Treat yourself after long days, hard tests, when you're sick and feeling like brightening your mood– not when you're a bunch of drinks in on a Saturday night. Resolution three; cheats are so much better when you feel like you deserve them.

4. TAKE OFF YOUR MAKEUP!!!

So, not as relatable for guys, but girls definitely feel me on this one. This MUST be done in 2017– our skin, and our pillow cases, will thank us.

5. Stop procrastinating

There is no reason to stay up until 3 a.m. the night before a 10-page essay is due when you've known about it for weeks. I know it's easier said than done, but the procrastination has to end, or at least lessen.

6. Call your parents... not because you need something

You KNOW they'll be so happy.

7. Stop binge watching

Get up. Get out of bed. Do that paper you need to do, clean your room, go to class! Netflix will be there when you're done.

8. Jeans

Now I'm not going to pretend like I'll look great every day, but in 2017, I'd like to minimize the number of times I walk around campus looking like I got hit by a bus to twice a week tops.

9. Leave the card at home

Bringing your card out on the weekends (or Tuesdays... or Thursdays) is just a generally bad idea. Leave this habit in 2016. Please.

10. Try new things

Don't spend the weekends sleeping. Don't just lay in bed until 4 p.m. on a Sunday; get out– visit friends at other schools, go on roadtrips, explore what's around you. Do something you wouldn't normally do; hike, check out that notoriously haunted spot you've been wanting to go to, just leave campus and do ANYTHING!!

11. Give yourself more credit

Don't be so hard on yourself this year. You're hard working and smart– don't beat yourself up over the small stuff.... you're doing great.

12. Take NOTHING for granted

It's easy to get mad at your parents... Don't. It's because of them you're having the time of your life at school. It's easy to blow off your friends... Don't. Memories are precious and one day, you'll miss the time you had with them. It's easy to skip that party, or pass up the chance to travel– or do something different, something out of your comfort zone...Don't. Take nothing for granted. Enjoy every second of 2017.

Hopefully, we can accomplish our resolutions together (OK maybe not the gym one, but we'll try our best) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
