Double Standards and Stereotypes: Things of the Past

Why is it that girls and guys cannot be equal? Yes, there are some differences physically and also emotionally, but that does not mean that men are going to make it further in life. There is no reason why a women cannot be a CEO and a man cannot be a housemaid. No reason.

Women, you do not need to be in the kitchen, go out and rule the business world.

Let's look at Ginni Rometty, who has sat as a chairman, CEO and president of IBM, one of the largest technical industries in the United States. In 2012, 2013, and 2014, she was ranked the No. 1 most powerful businesswomen by Fortune.com. She is 57 and is probably more rich and successful than most men will ever be.

Nothing wrong with being more powerful than your husband.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are one of the most powerful couples in the music industry. But, let me just ask one quick question. When you hear Beyonce and Jay-Z, which one do you think of first? Beyonce, right? She started at Destiny's Child and since has grown into one of the most iconic figures across the world. If you aren't Drunk in Love with her 24/7 then what are you? Yes, Jay-Z is still very famous but that does not make Bey a side piece, she is simply just as powerful if not more.

When a woman talks to multiple men, she's a slut; when a man talks to multiple women, he is applauded.

I think this is the most horrific double standard I have ever heard and I believe this for one reason; WHO CARES. Let everyone live their lives as they want to.

It is assumed that woman cannot do things as well as men can.

Not true. It is assumed that there are certain activities that are for men and certain that are for women. I guess this would explain why I get so many stares riding into class on my longboard because it's assumed that girls don't do that. But if you're good at it, who cares.

There is no reason why women and men should be treated differently. We are all people. Why it was decided by someone that men get the better jobs and men are superior in a sense is beyond me. There is no reason why women should feel inferior. Double standards are a thing of the past so lets kick it in the ass!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
