We live in a world that is surviving solely on double standards, and ruled by a bunch of hypocrites. You don't believe me? Take a look around, really.
In the work place, women are still being treated unfairly, as where men are awarded above all. We are now losing our first African American president but are to scared to allow a Jew into office. We want our children to have the freedom to choose what sexuality they want to classify themselves as but as soon as our favorite Disney Princess might be gay, we are suddenly against the thought. We live in a world where whites should stick with whites and any other race, well...who cares. But this is WRONG!
We are constantly judging others. Appearance, hobbies, majors. But why? We all HATE being judged, so..why do we partake in this offensive act? We all strive for perfection, but tear each other down in the process. We are always told that appearance isn't everything, but yet, the "ugly" people don't succeed.
We are told to be your own person, but you get called "weird" for being different. We get told to do what makes you happy but society hates you for not being like everyone else. Society teaches us to keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Why can't we all build each other up and help each other out, instead of tearing each other apart at the seams.
I can't help but feeling constant stress while living in today's world. Stress to always look nice when leaving the house, stress to always get good grades or I won't be good enough, stress that if I don't lose that extra 5 pounds, my crush will look past me and go to her. Society is pushing us into mood and eating disorders, low self-esteem and so much more. Finishing college, going to graduate school, finding the one who you're supposed to spend the rest of your life with...is anyone else as stressed as me?
In relationships, the boyfriend isn't allowed to have any girl-friends but the girlfriend is allowed to have as many boy-friends as she wants, or vise versa...am I right? Who can agree with this? Because of this double standard, trust issues have evolved and relationships don't make it. Ha, as I always say, trust is key. If you can't trust your partner to not do anything, then maybe you shouldn't be with them to begin with. But set an example, don't be apart of that double standard.
Trying to be your own person is tough enough on its own. We don't need the stress and judgements of society on our back as well. So...BACK OFF. Instead of judging everyone else around you, judge yourself for being what you never thought you'd be.
