Your Guide to Rush Week

Do's & Don'ts of Sorority Recruitment

Rush week is the most exciting and scary time of your college career! (Probably an exaggeration, but still). If you are anything like me, you're nervous, anxious, and totally thrilled at the same time. You also have no idea what to do or what's even going on! Well, from one sorority girl to the next, I have some advice for you to get you through the week:

DO Talk About Yourself.

Talk about your interests, hobbies, what you did in high school, what you hope to gain by joining a sorority, what you hope to give back. We want to hear about you and what makes you special. This is the one time you get to be conceited and tell us what makes you so great!

DON'T Dress in What You Wore to Cellar Last Night.

Take some pride in your appearance, and treat rush week as you would an interview. You want to put your best foot forward for your new potential sisters, so dress your best! Leave the mini skirt and crop top at home, and wear the sundress with the wedges that you haven't gotten the chance to wear yet.

DO Ask Questions.

Choosing a sorority is a mutual process, so find out what you like about each one. Ask what their philanthropy is, how much dues are, and what sisters love most about their chapter!

DON'T Gossip or Try to Dish Dirt.

A big turn off is talking sh*t on other sororities and fraternities. Do not gossip! We're all a part of Greek life, so bashing one is a reflection on us all. That isn't what rush is about at all. We're looking to welcome you into a sisterhood, not hate on others.

The last piece of advice I can leave you with is just be yourself. Don't waste time trying to impress a certain sorority. Keep an open mind and trust that you'll find your home. Have fun! You're going to meet so many new people, and make a ton of new friends! And it's not too late to sign up! Visit www.wvupanhellenic.com for more details on how you can register!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
