Do's And Don't Of Any College Break

A good combination of things to do, and things not to do.

Do's And Don't Of Any College Break

Breaks are one of the most glorious parts of going to college, besides the learning part, of course. Whether it's just one day for Labor Day or five weeks for Christmas, college kids appreciate the much deserved time off.

It's common to be overwhelmed by all of the possibilities to fill up your free time. Should you go home? Should you take a trip? Should you just stay in bed and binge watch the Office? Whatever you decide to pick, make sure you're aware of some of the do's and don'ts of any break.

DO spend time with people you actually want to.

In my opinion, it's just silly to waste your time doing something you don't want to do, so find those special people. It could be family or friends from high school. Regardless, surround yourself with quality, not quantity.

DON'T completely ignore your backpack.

It's way too easy to just toss schoolwork aside and forget about it until the night before classes start back up. However, this is method is proven not to work. You will get stressed out, and you will regret your choices.

DO let yourself sleep in and relax.

There's really no reason that you need to be all over the place every single day of break. Make sure to set aside a day to decompress and recuperate because trust me, you probably deserve it.

DON'T be on social media too much. Take the break from school as an opportunity to have a break from Facebook, Twitter, etc. It might seem like a coo/fun/interesting way to pass your time, but there are most likely better things for you to do.

DO treat your self. Okay, it's kind of cliché, but also true. College is hard, and you're exhausted. Try and do something you don't normally do for yourself. Go to a movie or get a pedicure or pet some animals at a shelter. Really, it's up to you.

DON'T dread going back to school too much. It's normal to need a break, but after a while you'll start to miss your friends, activities, classes, professors, and local campus squirrels.

Like I said before, time off during college is great. If you're feeling confused or overwhelmed or maybe underwhelmed, just refer to the advice above and have a fantastic day/week/month off. :)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
