When I was in high school I felt like time was going so slow; those 4 years felt like eternity. I hated every second of it and I couldn't wait to start fresh. Here's some at advice I should've taken during my high school years:
1) Don't let drama take over your life.
Let's be real, you probably won't be friends with half the girls after you leave, so stop pretending. You don't need drama to bring you down when you should be happy as ever.
2) Stop taking boys so seriously. Even better, don't date at all.
Okay, so maybe 1% of couples from high school get married and live happily ever after, but that probably won't be you. It's easier said than do, I know from experience. But trust me, if you just have fun and not care so much as having a boy by your side every step of the way, it'll be great.
3) You don't need a new outfit everyday.
I'm guilty of being the girl who "never repeated the same outfit twice. Literally in college no one cares at all what you look like. You will just be wearing yoga's and sweatshirts everyday. So stop trying to impress people who don't even matter. Plus you'll save a ton of money.
4) Don't procrastinate.
Cut out this bad habit now. Your college self will really thank you for that.
5) Do- make your family your first priority.
This is a big one. These are the people who were there for you at the very beginningand will be there for you until the very end. Spend time with them on a Saturday night, because in college it's going to be much harder to do so. Cherish them while you still can.
6) Do- have lots of sleepovers.
These slowly dwindle away as you get old. Yes, you'll have roommates in college and its beyond fun, However, staying up late, eating junk food, and watching massive amounts of TV is perfection. Especially with your best girl friends.
7) Don't have sex.
You may think/know you're in love, or need to get it over with but you don't. It'll be more worth it if you wait it out. Because with time, you may regret it.
8) Do- go to football games.
They are always so much fun, you get to dress up, and be with your grade outside of school and parties. Plus, if you're school wins it the best feeling. Also, half apps is pretty great too.
9) Do- take electives the "career" elective instead of the "fun" electives.
If you pick electives that are more career based interests, this will help you learn what you like and don't like. It'll help you narrow your choices as to what major you want to declare in college, or maybe even see if college is right for you. In the end, this will help future you.
10) Do- Keep hold of your best friend/s.
Those 1 or 2 friends from high school will be the bridemaids in your wedding, aunts to your children, and wheelchair buddy in the nursing home. Those few friends are very important so make sure to always stay in touch no matter the distance.
