Dorm Versus Apartment

There are some differences you will love!

This is my first year living in an apartment that's part of college property and I love it! There are some differences that you can get used to real quick!

1. You have your own room.

This is one thing I was really looking forward to; having my own room equals more privacy. Need a place to cry in private? How about a place to play some tunes when your roommates are asleep (as long as you still keep it down)? Wait until you get an apartment! But the room's still kind of a small space so you still need to make sure it's tidy or the whole room will look messy.

2. You don't have to share the kitchen with your entire floor.

Another thing I was looking forward to! Everyone remembers what it was like going to the hall kitchen and there'd already be a lot of people there. Well, not anymore! You get a kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher, oven, and refrigerator. You can fill the place up with whatever you want! Also, you can cook/bake whatever you want, whenever you want!

3. You only have to share a bathroom with ONE other person.

It's a whole lot easier to share a bathroom with one person rather than (at least) three, especially when it comes to the shower.

4. Two keys: One for the apartment, one for your room.

An extra security measure you could say, whether you're leaving for break, or just leaving for class with someone in the apartment. That way you have little-to-no chance of someone going into your room and stealing stuff.

5. Different bed size.

Dorms just have a twin size bed but apartments have at least a full size bed, a bigger space just for you!

There's a lot to love about having an apartment. Also, this isn't listed but worth mentioning: having an apartment just gives you more of a sense of freedom! Dorms have all these restrictions and, while apartments have some too, there's definitely more allowed there than in a dorm room.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

You cannot beat the beach. Believe it or not (which many people may not), New England has a long and beautiful coastline. Most of my high school summers were spent sitting on the Wall at Hampton Beach, getting sunburnt and eating Acai bowls from The Secret Spot. The Wall was the place to be both during the day and at night. We begin our days there with a KB's bagel and coffee, and end them with pizza and ice cream. It’s not a New England summer without that 4 p.m. text from someone, “Who wants to meet at the Wall tonight?” Nighttime is for Tripoli’s Pizza, the sound of waves, and wishes on shooting stars. Wednesday nights are especially important, as those are the nights that Hampton Beach sets off the weekly firework display.
