As college students, we all know the struggle of finding snacks for our dorm rooms that aren't extremely unhealthy and are simultaneously quick and easy to make. Here are 12 healthy and easy dorm room snack recipes.

1. Hummus.

Hummus (in my personal opinion) is one of the greatest snacks of all time. Hummus is a quick and easy way to reach your daily fiber, protein, and unsaturated fat goals. Not to mention, it goes with virtually anything. All types of bread. Crackers. Chips. Pretzels. Etc. And the flavor selection includes everything from regular, to spinach and artichoke, to spicy tacos.

2. REAL Mac 'N' Cheese in a mug.

Sure, store-bought mac 'n' cheese is great and convenient. However, nothing quite beats the taste of a homemade batch. This real mac 'n cheese recipe takes five minutes to make and is healthier!

3. Zucchini chips.

We all love chips. But we also all know how bad they are for you. However, these Zucchini Chips will change your life. No more empty calories snacks!

4. Trail Mix.

One of these easiest snacks to create, trail mix can be made to cater to your fiber, protein, and carb needs. Check out all of these awesome trail mix recipes!

5. Popcorn.

Popcorn is one of the major college dorm staples, but after a while, it can get boring to keep eating over, and over, and over again without much of a flavor change. Here are some ways to switch up your popcorn routine.

6. Eggs in a mug.

Most college students hate getting up early before their classes to go and grab some breakfast. Well, now you don't have to! It takes just four steps to make microwavable eggs.

7. Frozen banana bites.

Bananas aren't just the perfect source of potassium. They're also the perfect frozen snack. Still the same, great banana taste, but with a bit of a twist.

8. Breakfast tacos.

All forms of taco are pretty fantastic, but breakfast tacos can definitely make any morning better. Even Mondays.

9. Yogurt parfait.

If you're looking for a quick snack to grab on the way to class or when you get back, breakfast parfaits are a good way to go.

10. Guacamole.

I'm not personally a fan of guacamole, but I have been told the rest of the world is. This guacamole is quick and refreshing. Not to mention, homemade and not from the grocery store.

11. Nachos in a mug.

I am totally obsessed with nachos, but my body is certainly not. In order to curve your nacho cravings, while still keeping off the pounds, check out these nachos.

12. Apple pie

Apple pie is more of a dessert than a meal, but it's still hella important. I mean, who doesn't love a good, quick dessert recipe? Plus, this is a much healthier recipe than your average apple pie.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
