The transition from living at home to living in a new, unfamiliar place at college can be a difficult one. When I first moved to Temple last year, I struggled with feeling comfortable in my dorm room. It took me some time to adjust to this new living situation; however, with a few things scattered throughout my room, my dorm felt more like home. I highly suggest adding all or a few of these objects to your living space this school year.

I believe that having photos of your friends and family truly help in easing homesickness. As well as personal photos, I also recommend hanging up motivational words to aid you when you are feeling down or uninspired.

Creating a comfy living space is essential to making it feel like home. Pick a color scheme that brings you happiness and then find the softest blankets and pillows.
Hobbies

Making friendship bracelets reminds me of summer and relieves any worries that are bothering me. You can also bring art supplies and other craft activities that will get your mind off of school for a little bit.
Favorite Snacks

Keep a couple snacks in your room for when you need a study break or just need to treat yourself.

Fairy lights make any room feel calm and welcoming. I usually string them around my bed, but you can put them anywhere for a relaxed atmosphere.
Diffuser/Wallflower

A diffuser is another object that will bring calm energy into your new living area. You can also pick a scent/oil that reminds you of home to feel more at peace.
I hope this school year you feel calm in your new dorm or apartment!
