Every year people always tell themselves that they are going to follow through with their New Year's Resolution. Some people do, and those are the people that I don't like. Those are the people that make you feel like a piece of crap when you don't follow through with you're resolution. Well, I'm here to tell you that it's okay to not stand by your resolution and if you don't make one that's okay too.

Obstacles constantly get in the way, that's life and making a New Year's resolution does not prevent life from getting in the way. People are always saying "new year new me", ok yes it is a new year but it's the same you. You are still going to have good days and bad days despite you declaring a resolution. I would always think, "wow this year is going to be different, I am going to so much more with my life". Next day I'm still doing the same thing I did the day before. Obviously you can say I'm going to try and eat healthier every once in a while, but don't let this take over you're entire year. Take resolutions with a grain of salt because there are much bigger things in the new year that you have yet to prepare for.
Yes, New Years is a great way to think "it's out with the old and in with the new", but don't expect too much to change. You should reflect on the past and think about the future, but don't promise yourself anything. Life has a funny way of working and sometimes it steers you in paths that you wouldn't expect to go to. You can tell yourself to go to the gym, or get better grades, but don't get too caught up in those statements. Enjoying the new year is what is most important and besides who actually promising themselves that they will go to the gym?
