Don't Share That On Facebook!

Don't be your crazy aunt/uncle

Don't Share That On Facebook!

Back in middle school and high school, if I generally knew someone, I would add them on Facebook. I am really regretting that now, four to six years later. During those "dark times" I liked all these pages such as: "Fans of Jonas Brothers," "I hate middle school," and "I Like Texting 1y43 d15." Those pages now post things that have nothing to do with their original purpose. I am so sick of seeing "I hate when I'm shirtless in the woods and Abercrombie takes pictures of me" or "I hate autocorrect" posting gross pictures of people's backs or that disgusting picture of bug bites. Little by little, I have eradicated these fan pages from my news feed. Fan pages aren't even the worst part of Facebook.

These Facebook friends of mine just love sharing these fan pages' content. I've gone from over 2,000 friends since high school to a little under 1,000 and that's still way too much. It's like every time I unfriend someone, someone else LITERALLY POSTS THE SAME ANNOYING STUFF. Please people, I beg of you, STOP SHARING THAT. I don't want to see that crazy fight from that Chicago high school. I don't want to see the memes about sharing this or something horrible will happen to you. You won't die or even win that 1 million dollars by sharing that. Worldstar is cool and Jesus is great, but sharing their annoying posts will do nothing for you except annoy everyone that sees it. Even worse, I will see it, and simply unfriend you.

There's this pyramid scheme where people are sharing some companies' products via Facebook. Once again, please stop. I don't care if ItWorks. Nobody is going to buy it. I got sucked into working for Vector/Cutco and sold knives to my family and friends. The point of these companies is to profit off of a high turnover job rate. Once someone is through sharing to their friends and family, the "sales associate" quits and the company just hires more gullible people. The knives were absolutely amazing and such a great product, but the way they sell is completely wrong. You guys would be annoyed if I posted BUY MY KNIVES, IT WORKS every single hour.

Stop sharing those political posts that are extremely biased and usually too slanted to be accurate. I sometimes post a few a month but not enough to be annoying. I see some people posting some crazy conspiracy theory almost every time I'm on Facebook. (JET FUEL CAN'T MELT STEEL BARS). I think I've seen the same article about Cecil the Lion about 20 times and that whole thing happened a week ago. That's great that sharing "Donald Trump Is An Idiot" will make it so that he isn't nominated for the GOP candidacy. Actually, that's not how the political process works. How about getting out and voting in the primary next year? I know it's easier to click "share" but that does nothing except make you look like a crazy uncle.

Facebook is great when I see people post about their accomplishments. I prefer to see engagement announcements and pictures, birthday wishes, and even what you're up to because it's interesting to see unique things! Just stop posting the same thing from 100 different accounts. It's cool to see "This Amazing Boy Saved A Puppy" once or twice... Not 100 times.

The only thing I'm okay with seeing shared 100,000 times is an Odyssey article. (Especially mine).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
