Is the semester starting to pick up for you? Are you getting a ton of assignments out of nowhere? If so, the most important thing you have to remember is not to run away from your responsibilities. Sure, this might seem pretty obvious, but honestly, we do it all the time!
As I'm writing this, I have a seven-page paper, a presentation that I only got one day's notice for, an upcoming 700 word article for a class, upcoming readings for two classes, taking time to search for internships with my sister, writing a cover letter for future job opportunities, discussion posts to do online, and making sure to write awesome articles for Odyssey promptly. It's pretty stressful and leaves little room to just relax for a few minutes, but I have to remember not to ignore these responsibilities or I'll be even more stressed later on.
I was suppose to get a job in the summer before entering my sophomore year of college, but because I was lazy and nervous about getting a job, I put it off for a while and it wound up being too late for me to apply. Due to this, I missed out on making money for myself and for my college loans, and as awesome as lazy summers are, it did begin to drag a little bit. There were times in high school where I didn't take my assignments too seriously or I left little time for them because of other priorities, which led to me doing pretty poorly for awhile. In fact, I had to take time off from running track and field races just to get myself in a better place academically. I even ran away from my responsibilities when it came to applying for a writing position for Odyssey. I knew writing here would be something great to put on my résumé, but I kept making excuses for myself about being too busy to apply or uncertain of the requirements that I didn't actually apply until months after the opportunity arose.
After all these interesting experiences, I finally realize that it's super important to just get something done effectively as soon as you hear about it rather than putting it off. If you do something early, you'll have time to get other things done and maybe have some time for yourself. Don't let fear or laziness get in the way of applying for a job or getting a daunting homework assignment done. Remember that you can get it all done with organization! Shia LaBeouf was right guys, sometimes you have to "just do it!"
