I write for me.

I am sure that this sounds weird as I am a creator for the Odyssey.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love writing with the Odyssey and having this place to have the freedom to do so.

But while yes,I technically write for them, I don't really write for them.

I honestly don't write for the publicity of my articles, or the shares, or even the likes.

I write for me.

And that is the only way that I would want to be.

While the Odyssey gives me such an incredible outlet and way to use my creativity, I am not writing specifically for those purposes.

Sure, it's great to be acknowledged and have others relating on deeper levels with my writing, but ultimately I pray that it is something that always helps me and honors Christ.

This is just my outlook.

I do want others to read my articles and get something from them just as I do with others, but this must always be something that brings me joy for myself first. If I am not writing for myself or getting anything from myself then why am I creating?

Sometimes I do like to write silly little articles that make me laugh or even listicles filled with ideas that have been turning in my mind. I truly enjoy having these ideas and getting to write all about them. Those tend to be a little more lighter than the deeper topics that get placed on my heart.

When God really places ideas, passions, and desires on my heart and I begin to write for Him is when I really find joy and purpose in what I am doing.

Writing helps me to get through some of the hardest moments of my life when my anxiety is through the roof and just one more step from taking over.

As soon as I find myself getting upset or obsessively thinking about something that I shouldn't I turn to Him and the second I begin to write I feel overcome with joy because I begin to reflect in His goodness.

I find that by beginning to write and getting out what I feel led to I start to feel free from every entanglement and chain that is held against me.

My work may never get featured or get as many likes as others, but to me personally when I feel a sense of freedom and peace from God after writing I know that I just created one of my best pieces.

And that makes me happy. It makes me so full of joy.

I know that this is a gift from God, as I believe that it is also one for all of you amazing creators who also write. I honestly believe that you do not do this because you have to. None of us just have to, but we choose to because we want to.

I pray that as you write your next article that you realize that you are doing this for you and not for anyone else if you don't already. You may write with and for your community at the Odyssey, and you may love it just as I do, but you're not writing because of them.

You are writing for you.

I didn't join just to be an additional creator and to increase numbers. That is absolutely a plus and I love what I, as well as the others, bring to my team, but that is not my purpose for joining and it never will be.

I write for me and I am truly grateful to have this outlet and my beautiful community full of beautiful souls to share my writing with.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
