The world that surrounds you is so bitter and hallow.
Everyone loves making assumptions about others – always shallow.
All they see is your "image" never being enough
And you wonder why you always want to cover up?
You fake your voice, your smiles, and even your thoughts
The makeup is a wonderful mask to hide behind – until it falls off.
Fake people, enjoying how their deception makes others feel.
It seems like every relationship you have isn't real.
Every person finds a way to use you – sucking your soul dry
They push and toss you around – and you never ask them why.
That is of course - until they leave in a huff
And complain you weren't there for them enough
You are now alone with very few who care.
But those that do, they have so much love to share.
It feels better to push people away
Because you feel like nobody will stay.
You cannot imagine anyone liking the real you behind the person you display
Your genuine self - the one that you try and try to keep tucked away
Those who have stayed though – have seen the real you
And they still want you - it feels to good to be true.
They see your worth, despite your flaws
They connect to you every time your mask falls.
They won't take advantage of your vulnerability
All they want is to help you see yourself clearly.
They know you're insecure, and so are they
Since they are genuine, they were always targeted by the fakes
Because bad people can sniff good people from miles away
They take everything from them since they don't have the heart to say "no way"
The ones who stayed are in fact just like you;
They were misused by the people who they trusted the most too.
If they can see your value, one day you will see it - it's true.
And maybe just maybe, you can help them see it too.
Because when good people stick together the world becomes brand new.
