This time of year, it seems like college kids across America are beginning to realize something they never thought would happen: they actually miss school! I have certainly felt this way at various times throughout my college career; after all, when your friends are at school, everything you're involved in takes place between the months of August and May, and when you're just bored at home, this makes sense. It's okay to miss being on campus, but this summer, I don't miss being at school or on campus, and that's just fine too.
Junior year of college was a long, hard year. Classes suddenly seem to become very high-risk, and your schedule is as busy as ever. It seems more difficult to keep up your routine of balancing school, work, and having fun with your friends, plus there's that whole element of being scarily close to the end of your college career.
After all of that, I looked forward to summer break, where I could have a chance to recharge and spend time with my family. I have enough going on to keep me busy, even though I'm not nearly as busy as I am on campus. But, after all, that was kind of the goal! This time next year, I'll (hopefully) have a real job, and won't have as much time to relax. This summer is pretty much it.
I love my campus. I love the friends I've made there. I even love all of my classes, and I look forward to the time when I'm once again thrown into the crazy storm of schoolwork, meetings, and meet-ups with my friends. But, I'm just not ready for that time yet. Right now, I'm content being away from campus, and that's okay!
