Don't Live In Fear

Welcome to life in 2016. I bet if you looked back 20 years ago, everyone at this time thought about the progress the world would have made and how amazing of a time it would be. Instead, we are living in a world full of fear.

Living in fear is only something that can slow us down.

Every single day we live and thrive to hopefully see the next and so forth.

We live in a world where you can’t turn on the news without hearing something so heart wrenching; we don’t know how the families of these victims are going to make it. We hear things on the news that keep us up at night and wonder what in the hell kind of world we are living in. In a world where there could be so much progress, we are all filled with constant fear.

But, we must not live in fear. Life is precious and can truly end at any moment, as we have recently seen.

Settling for comfort out of fear will do nothing but frustrate us and limit the trajectory of our lives, and that’s just not going to work, so I’ve decided to avoid comfort at all costs.

Fear is something that can hold you to a certain person, place, or thing. Our fears keep us from doing things, not because we aren't able to. It's because we don’t allow our mind to do it. If you want to be President of the United States, you work hard and go to school and move your way there.

Remember that the only person in your way is you and what you tell yourself.

Living in fear can be like a prison. You may feel trapped now, but if you open your mind up it will help you make decisions and one of them being to not live in fear.

We need to be able to get rid of the negative thoughts in our lives. The negative thoughts, that causes us to live every day in fear.

Each day could be our last, reminding yourself may scare you. Therefore, we shouldn't have to be reminded; we should just live helping others and trying to be as happy as we can be. There are people out there in the world who do happen to harm others, but we can't live in fear due to recent events, and think that could be us.

We must strive forward, because if we stopped in our tracks, then that's a win for them and a loss for them. At some point, we won't live in fear, and that's what conquers evil.

Fear is what is going to keep you locked out of the world we live in, find something that speaks to you and focus your energy on that. Instead of the fear we see in the world.

Do not fear death. You are living right now, and you are meant to be here. Sit back and relax, and enjoy the life you're living.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
